If you're using Marker.io for issue tracking and bug reporting, you might want to add issues as subtasks within your main tasks. This is especially useful when organizing issues into more manageable pieces. This guide will show you how to set up subtasks using Marker.io, with ClickUp as our example integration.

Step 1: Create Your Parent Task

Start by creating a parent task in your integration (e.g., ClickUp). This parent task will serve as the main issue under which your subtasks (individual issues) will be organized. Common examples of parent tasks include:

  • Bugs

  • Content Updates

  • Triage

Step 2: Decide How Reporters Will Assign Subtasks

You have two options for assigning subtasks:

  1. Reporter-Selected Parent Task: Allow reporters to choose the parent task themselves. This gives them flexibility in organizing their issues.

  2. Preselected Parent Task: Preassign a parent task for all reporters. For example, you can set all guest reporters’ issues to automatically fall under the “Triage” task.

You can adjust these settings according to your workflow needs, mixing and matching as necessary.
