We offer several ways to stay updated when new issues are reported or when there’s activity on existing issues. You can get notifications through Slack or email, depending on what works best for you and your team.
Slack Notifications
You can receive Slack notifications for new issues and updates, such as:
A new issue is reported.
A comment is added to an issue.
The status of an issue changes (like being marked as "Resolved").
How to Enable Slack Notifications
Go to your project’s settings in Marker.io.
Navigate to Notifications.
Under Slack Notifications, choose what events you want to be alerted about.
Link your Slack channel if you haven’t already.
For a more detailed guide on setting up Slack notifications, check out our Slack Notifications Guide.
Email Notifications for Issues
Add Additional Email Notifications
Email notifications keep you informed directly in your inbox. Depending on your role and the project settings, you can get notified when:
A new issue is reported.
Someone comments on an issue you’re involved in.
The status of an issue changes.
Types of Email Notifications
Email notifications can be customized based on user roles within the project:
Role | Receives Notifications When… |
Public Reporter | - They report a new issue. |
Guest | - Someone comments on their issue. |
Member | - Someone comments on an issue they’re involved in. |
How to Edit Email Notifications
Head to your project’s settings.
Select Notifications.
Under Email Notifications, toggle notifications on or off based on what’s relevant to you.
To globally adjust email settings for your team, visit Team Email Settings.
If you want to reduce email clutter, consider disabling some notifications, especially if your team uses Slack heavily for communication.
Customizing Notifications for Your Workflow
If your team already has an internal system for managing alerts, you can easily adjust Marker.io settings to avoid overlapping notifications. For instance, if you prefer using Slack, you might want to turn off some email notifications.
To change these settings, go to your project or team settings and tweak the notification preferences to match how your team works.
