How billing works

When you're charged, and what happens when your plan, team, or monitored pages change

This guide explains when you're charged and what happens when you change your plan, your team, or your monitored pages. Looking for prices? See Plans and pricing.

Your billing cycle

You pay at the start of each billing cycle. That's the month or year your subscription covers.

You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Card not working? Reach out to support.

Prices don't include taxes. Taxes are calculated at checkout based on your location.

Yearly or monthly?

  • Yearly billing costs less. That includes your plan, extra Members, and page add-ons.

  • Your plan renews on the same date. A yearly plan bought May 3 renews May 3 next year. A monthly plan bought May 3 renews June 3.

  • Empty seats are removed at each renewal. On a monthly plan, that's every month. On a yearly plan, it's once a year.

Monthly to yearly: Go to Workspace settings > Billing and click Switch to annual billing now. The switch applies right away, and you're credited for the unused part of your current month.

Yearly to monthly: You can't switch from yearly to monthly in the app. Your yearly plan stays active, at its lower price, until the end of your billing cycle. If you need to switch, chat with us.

Upgrading or downgrading your plan

Upgrading: Upgrades happen right away. You get the new features instantly. You only pay for the time left in your billing cycle. This is called a prorated charge.

Example: You switch from Starter yearly to Team yearly halfway through the year. You pay the difference for the remaining six months.

Downgrading: Downgrades happen at the end of your billing cycle. Until then, you keep everything you've paid for. Since you get the full cycle, there's no credit.

Example: Your monthly Team plan renews on the 26th. You downgrade on October 10. You keep Team until October 26, then switch to Starter.

Adding Members

If you have an empty seat, a new Member fills it for free. If all your seats are full, you pay for a new seat at your plan's extra Member price.

  • Yearly plan: you're charged on the 1st of next month, for the rest of your billing cycle.

  • Monthly plan: you're charged on your next bill.

Example: Your yearly plan started January 1. You add a Member on January 22. On February 1, you're charged for that seat from January 22 to December 31.

Tip: Someone only needs access to a few projects? Invite them as a Guest instead. Guests are free and unlimited.

If you've cancelled: Your subscription stays active until your billing cycle ends. You can still add Members, and new seats are still charged:

  • Monthly plan: on your final invoice, sent the day your subscription ends.

  • Yearly plan: on the 1st of next month, up to your cancellation date.

Removing Members

Good news: when you remove a Member, you keep their seat until renewal. You've already paid for it, so you can give it to someone else for free.

At renewal, empty seats are removed so you stop paying for them. You always keep the seats included in your plan.

We don't offer credits for empty seats, but you can use them until renewal.

Example: You used 23 seats this billing cycle and now have 3 Members. You can invite up to 20 people at no extra cost until renewal.

Tip: Swapping one Member for another? Remove the old Member first, then invite the new one. Your bill stays the same.

Changing your page limits

  • A domain's limit: raise or lower it anytime from the project or your workspace settings. Raising it uses pages from your total. Lowering it frees up pages for your other domains. If you lower it below the number of selected pages, some pages stop being monitored.

  • Raising your total page limit: choose a bigger page add-on. It works like adding a Member. Your new pages are available right away. On a yearly plan, you're charged on the 1st of next month, for the rest of your billing cycle. On a monthly plan, you're charged on your next bill. If your domains need more pages than your total covers, you'll see Upgrade required.

  • Lowering your total page limit: choose a smaller page add-on, or go back to the 10 included pages. It works like removing a Member. You keep the pages you've paid for until renewal, then pay the lower price.
