Your monitoring settings control what Marker.io scans, how it reaches your website and how often it runs. You can change any of them after your first scan.
To open your settings, go to Project → Settings → Monitor. Settings are grouped into three tabs: Scanning, Pages and Accessibility.
At the top, you'll see your domain and its status:
Monitoring active: Marker.io can reach your website and scans are running.
Website unreachable: the scanner can't reach your website. Click Fix access in the banner to see why.
Scanning
The Scanning tab controls when Marker.io scans and how it reaches your website.
Scheduling
Scheduled scans catch new issues without you having to remember to scan. Choose a Scan frequency:
Monthly: scans once a month, on the day and time you choose. This is the default.
Weekly: scans every week, on the day and time you choose. Available on Team and Enterprise plans.
Daily: scans every day, at the time you choose. Available on Enterprise plans.
Never: doesn't scan automatically. You'll only get new results when you rescan yourself.
Once you pick a frequency, set the day and time below it. Pick a time that suits your team. For example, a weekly scan early on Monday morning gives everyone fresh results when they start the week.
Your next scheduled scan is shown below the options. To scan straight away, click scan your website now.
Site access
Site access lets the scanner reach websites that aren't fully public, like password-protected staging sites.
At the top of this section, you'll see whether your domain is reachable by the scanner. After changing any setting, click Re-test domain access to check again.
You can add four types of access details:
User Agent: the identifier the scanner sends instead of its default.
Cookies details: session cookies the scanner sends with every request.
Custom headers: headers like an API key or Bearer token.
Auth prompt: a username and password for sites with a login popup.
Click Add next to the one you need. [[Scanner errors]] explains when to use each one.
Any details you enter are encrypted, stored securely and used only by the scanner to reach your website.
At the bottom of Site access, you'll find the Dedicated IP scanner. Turn on Use a dedicated IP scanner to scan your website from a fixed IP address you can allow through a firewall.
You usually don't need this. Use it only if your firewall or IP allowlist blocks the scanner, and the other site access options don't work. When it's on, scans always come from one of these IP addresses:

Bot-protection services are more likely to flag traffic from a single fixed IP. If scans get blocked after you turn it on, allowlist these IPs in your bot-protection settings too.
Remove domain
Click Remove domain to stop monitoring this domain for good. This permanently deletes the domain and all its data. This can't be undone.
Removing a domain releases its page limit back to your workspace, so you can use those pages on another domain.
Change the domain you monitor
You can't edit the domain on an existing project. To monitor a different domain in the same project, remove the current one and add the new one:
Go to Project → Settings → Monitor.
On the Scanning tab, click Remove domain and confirm.
Click Set up monitoring and add your new domain. See [[Get started with Monitoring]].
Removing the old domain deletes all its data, including its scan history.
Pages
The Pages tab controls which pages Marker.io monitors.
Pages monitored
This shows how many pages you're monitoring against this domain's page limit, for example 35 of 50 page limit. To change the limit, click Manage page limit.
Page management
Choose how Marker.io finds your pages:
Sitemap: finds pages automatically from your sitemap. Best for websites that publish new pages often.
List of URLs: scans only the pages you list. Best for monitoring a few key pages.
If you use Sitemap, Marker.io shows the sitemap it's using, how many child sitemaps it found and how many pages it discovered. Click Edit to change the sitemap, or Re-check to read it again. Sitemap index files are supported.
Why choose a sitemap? New pages get scanned automatically. Marker.io checks your sitemap every 15 minutes, and scans new pages as soon as it finds them, as long as you have room on your page limit. This only works with a sitemap, not with a list of URLs.
URL exclusions
Exclusions skip pages you don't need to monitor, like old blog posts or past events. This also saves pages on your page limit.
Click Add exclusion rule.
Enter the text the URL contains, like
/blogorlang=fr.Click Add.
Every page whose URL contains that text is excluded. Each rule shows how many pages it matches, so you can check it before relying on it.
Forced pages
Forced pages are always scanned, even if an exclusion rule would skip them. Use them to keep one key page in your scans while excluding the rest of its section. For example, keep one blog article while excluding the whole blog.
Click Add pages.
Enter the page URL.
Click Add.
At the bottom, Pages selected shows the total number of pages that will be scanned.
Accessibility
The Accessibility tab controls which standard Marker.io checks your pages against.
Accessibility level
Choose the WCAG standard to check against:
WCAG 2.1 AA
WCAG 2.2 AA: the newer standard. It's selected by default.
WCAG 2.2 AA includes the WCAG 2.1 AA requirements, plus newer ones. If you're not sure which to pick, check which standard your organization or client needs to meet.

Best practices
Turn on Best practices to add extra checks that go beyond WCAG. They're optional, but they improve accessibility for everyone. Best practices are on by default.
Changing your level or best practices changes which checks run, so your score and failing checks will change too. Changes apply from your next full website scan.
