When inviting users to your Marker.io workspace, you may encounter issues that prevent successful invitations. This guide will walk you through common problems and solutions.

Issues When Inviting Users

πŸ›‘ 1. This user is part of a non-empty workspace

Problem: The user you want to invite is already a member of another workspace. Marker.io does not allow users to be part of multiple workspaces unless a workaround is used.

Solution: Create and manage a new account for the user using an email alias. This way, the user can join your workspace without leaving their current one. The steps to create and manage accounts with email aliases are outlined below.

πŸ›‘ 2. This user is part of another workspace with an active subscription

Problem: The user is an admin in another workspace with an active subscription, preventing them from joining your workspace.

Solution: Similar to the previous issue, use an email alias to create a separate account for this workspace. This allows the user to manage multiple workspaces under different accounts using a single email address.

Can I have multiple Marker.io accounts with a single email address?

In Marker.io, each account must be linked to a unique email address. However, you can manage multiple accounts using email aliases. Here's how to set up and use email aliases to simplify your workspace management.

What is an Email Alias?

An email alias is a variation of your primary email address that acts as a separate address in Marker.io. Despite being a different address, all communications are directed to your main inbox. This allows you to manage multiple Marker.io accounts without needing different email accounts.

How to Set Up an Email Alias

  1. Identify Your Primary Email Address: For example, "JohnDoe@email.com".

  2. Choose a Unique Identifier for Your Alias: Select a keyword related to the workspace or project, such as "ProjectX" or "Team2".

  3. Create the Alias: Combine your primary email with the identifier using a "+" sign. For example, "JohnDoe+ProjectX@email.com".

  4. Register a New Account with the Alias: Use the new alias to create an additional Marker.io account.

Benefits of Using Email Aliases

  • Manage Multiple Workspaces: No need for new email addresses.

  • Centralized Communication: All emails related to your accounts arrive in a single inbox.

Alternative Approach: Removing and Re-Inviting Users

If a user needs to move permanently from one workspace to another, you can remove them from their current workspace and then re-invite them to the new one using their standard email address. This method is straightforward but should only be used for permanent transitions.
