Roles Overview

Learn how to customize permission levels so that your colleagues, collaborators, and clients only have access to the projects and settings they need.

  • Members: People internal to your company who report and collaborate on feedback, but can’t change any settings. This is the ideal permission for most stakeholders in your organization.

  • Managers: Managers can create projects, manage users, connect integrations, and configure widgets. Ideal for project managers and team owners.

  • Admins: Admins can do everything at the workspace level, including managing settings, and billing.

  • Guests: People external to your company who can be invited to specific projects to collaborate, but with limited abilities.

Note: When your widget is set to "Open", you can collect feedback from non-users. These reporters can only submit feedback, but cannot collaborate.

Managing roles and permissions

To change the permissions of specific people, Admins & Managers can go under the user management menu and change the role for each user.

How to invite users (4 ways)

There are several ways you can invite users to your workspace.

A) Email domain whitelisting [RECOMMENDED]

Allow anyone in your company with specific email domains (eg: @company.com) to join your workspace automatically when they signup to Marker.io. Users who sign up through this method will be assigned the Member role.

Admins will be notified of each new user joining your workspace. Admins can verify workspace domains here.

B) Invite link

Each workspace comes with a secret invite link. For example, you can share this invite link in your internal wikis so that anyone can easily join your workspace.

Users who sign up through this method will be assigned the Member role. Admins will be notified of each new user joining your workspace.

C) Invite at the workspace level

Under the user management menu, your team can invite new team members and assign them the correct role and permission level.

Note: Guests cannot be invited at the workspace level, only at the project level. (see below)

D) Inviting Users at the Project Level

To invite Guests or restrict a Member to specific projects:

  1. Open the desired project.

  2. Select Manage Access.

  3. Enter the email address of the invitee.

  4. Click Invite.

  5. Choose their role: Guest or Member.

  6. Click Invite.

Note: Workspace admins will have access to all projects.

You can also invite a visitor who reported feedback via your widget to your project by clicking the "Add" button on their avatars:
