Welcome to Marker.io! You've just started your trial, and this guide will walk you through the five essential steps to get your account configured and ready to collect feedback.
Step 1: Create Your Account
If you've been invited to Marker.io, you will receive an email.
Click the “Start reporting” button in the email.
You'll be prompted to fill out a short form to create your account and set a password.
Once your account is active, you can manage your details like your name, profile picture, and password under your profile settings.
Step 2: Create Your First Project
A project is where all the feedback for a specific website will be collected.
From your dashboard, click on “Create Project.”
Give your project a Name and enter the Website URL you want to collect feedback from.
Step 3: Connect Your Integration
Next, connect your project to your team's project management tool. This sends all feedback directly into your existing workflow.
Choose your integration: Select your tool (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana, ClickUp) from the list. If you prefer, you can continue without an integration and use Marker.io as your issue tracker.
Authorize the connection: The first time you connect a tool, you'll need to authorize Marker.io to access your account.
Select a destination: Choose the specific board or project within your tool where you want the feedback to be sent.
This creates a seamless two-way sync for issue statuses, fields, and comments between Marker.io and your tool.
Step 4: Set Up the Widget
The widget is the button on your website that reporters will use to submit feedback. You have several options for installing it.
Snippet Code (Recommended): This is the most popular method. Copy the JavaScript snippet and paste it into your website's HTML code before the closing
</head>
tag. This enables feedback on both desktop and mobile devices.CMS Plugins: If you use a platform like WordPress, you can use a dedicated plugin for easy installation.
NPM Package: For web applications, developers may prefer installing the widget via the NPM package.
Browser Extension: If you cannot edit your website's code, you can use a browser extension. Note that this method is for desktop use only, and each reporter will need to install the extension.
Once installed, visit your website to see the widget. You can customize its appearance, including the color, text, and position, in the widget settings.
Step 5: Invite Your Team
The final step is to invite the people who will be reporting feedback and managing issues.
Invite Members (Your Internal Team):
You can invite internal team members like developers, project managers, and QA testers.
The easiest way is to add your company's email domain (e.g.,
@yourcompany.com
) to the whitelist in your workspace settings. Anyone with a matching email who signs up will automatically join your team as a Member.You can also invite members individually from the User Management menu.
Invite Guests (Clients & External Stakeholders):
Invite external collaborators as Guests on a per-project basis.
Go to your project and select "Manage Access" to send a Guest invitation.
Guests can report feedback and see the issues they've submitted, but they won't have access to your full workspace or advanced technical details.
