You can enhance the security of your Marker.io widget by restricting its use to specific websites and domains. This ensures that only authorized users can access and use your widget and prevents unauthorized people from installing the widget code on other websites, thereby preventing fake bug reports and other potential misuse.

Why Restrict Your Widget to Specific Domains?

  1. Prevent Unauthorized Access: Ensure your widget is hidden from unauthorized users and doesn’t appear on unintended websites.

  2. Prevent Fake Bug Reports: Stop unauthorized people from installing your widget on other websites and creating fake bug reports.

  3. Control Access: Specify exactly who can see and use the widget.

Steps to Restrict Your Widget to Specific Domains

Step 1: Access Security Settings

  1. Log in to your Marker.io account.

  2. Go to your Project Dashboard.

  3. Navigate to Widget > Security.

  4. Select Restrict to Listed Domains.

Step 2: Manage Allowed Domains

  1. Navigate to Settings > General > Website Domains.

  2. View and Edit Domains: Here you can add new domains or remove existing ones as needed.

Best Practices for Widget Security

  • Regular Reviews: Periodically review your domain settings to ensure only necessary domains have access to your widget.
