Integrating Marker.io with SharePoint allows users to report issues directly from your SharePoint site. This guide is for SharePoint administrators and webmasters who want to enable easy issue reporting via Marker.io.
Prerequisites
Admin access to a SharePoint site.
An active Marker.io account.
Basic understanding of HTML/JavaScript (optional, but helpful)
Step 1: Obtain the Marker.io JavaScript Code
Log in to Marker.io: Access your Marker.io dashboard.
Retrieve JavaScript Snippet: Navigate to
Project Settings > Widget > Installation > Add code manually
and copy the code snippet.
Step 2: Access SharePoint for Editing
Login to SharePoint: Use your credentials with editing rights.
Select the Site: Choose the SharePoint site where you want to add the Marker.io widget.
Step 3: Edit the SharePoint Page
Enter Edit Mode: Click the "Edit" option on the desired page.
Note: Modern SharePoint sites might have a different editing interface compared to classic versions.
Step 4: Add a Script Editor Web Part
Locate Web Part Option: In the editing toolbar, find the “Add a Web Part” option.
Choose Script Editor: Select the “Script Editor” web part.
If using a modern SharePoint site, consider using a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) web part.
Step 5: Insert the Marker.io JavaScript
Paste the Code: Insert the Marker.io JavaScript snippet into the Script Editor web part.
Positioning: Ensure the script is placed where it can load effectively across the desired pages.
Step 6: Save Changes and Test
Save the Page: Apply and save your changes.
Test the Integration: Navigate the site as a user and check that the Marker.io widget is functioning correctly.
Step 7: Review SharePoint Permissions and Policies
Review Organization Policies: Check your organization's policies regarding custom scripts.
Check SharePoint Online Restrictions: SharePoint Online may have default restrictions on custom scripts for security reasons. You can adjust these settings in the SharePoint admin center if necessary.
Step 8: Consult Documentation and Support
Marker.io Resources: Use Marker.io’s support and documentation for additional guidance.
SharePoint Support: For SharePoint-specific issues, refer to Microsoft’s support and documentation.
