If your website uses basic authentication, such as .htaccess, you might find that screenshots from Marker.io are missing some images and styles. This is because our servers can't access parts of your site without logging in. To fix this and make sure your screenshots show everything correctly, you can set up basic authentication in Marker.io

What Happens Without Basic Authentication

Before setting up basic authentication, screenshots might look incomplete. You might see missing images or stylesheets, which can affect how your website is presented.

Screenshots may miss some images and stylesheets due to authentication barriers.

How to Configure Basic Authentication

To configure Basic Auth settings, navigate to your project Settings -> Widget -> Security

  • Turn on the Basic Auth switch.

  • Enter the username and password used for your website's basic authentication.

What Happens After Setting Up Basic Authentication

Once basic authentication is configured, your screenshots will include all website elements, like images and stylesheets, ensuring they appear just as they do when you view the site normally.

Note: Using our browser extensions in conjunction with our widget will always yield pixel-perfect screenshots.

See our instructions for adding browser extensions here.
