If you're having trouble with the Marker.io widget not appearing or not recognizing your login, follow this guide for easy-to-understand steps to fix the problem.
If you haven’t already, check out our general troubleshooting guide here:
What’s the Issue?
There are two main issues you might encounter:
Widget Not Showing: The Marker.io widget doesn’t appear on the webpage.
Login Issues: The widget shows up but doesn’t recognize your login, or repeatedly asks you to log in.
These issues often happen because your browser is blocking cookies or cross-site tracking, both of which are needed for Marker.io to function properly.
Note: We're exploring identifying users via tokens instead of cookies. If this is important to you, vote on that feature here.

Safari is known for its strong privacy settings, which is great for keeping you safe but can sometimes block tools like Marker.io from working smoothly. Here’s what you can do:
Safari (Mac)
Open Safari and click on Safari > Preferences.
Go to the Privacy tab.
Uncheck both Prevent cross-site tracking and Block all cookies.
Pro Tip: You might not want to disable these privacy settings all the time. For better control, you could temporarily adjust them while using Marker.io and switch them back afterward.
Safari (iPhone & iPad)
Open the Settings app and scroll to Safari.
Toggle off Prevent cross-site tracking and Block all cookies.
Alternative Approach: Consider using another browser like Chrome or Firefox, which might offer more flexible settings without affecting your main browsing experience.
Workarounds to Reduce Privacy Risks
We understand that disabling cross-site tracking and cookies can raise concerns. Here are some strategies to minimize risks while still getting Marker.io to work:
Use a Different Browser Just for Testing: If you prefer not to change your main Safari settings, you could use another browser (like Chrome or Firefox) with more permissive settings just when you’re working with Marker.io.
Temporary Adjustments: If you only need Marker.io to work occasionally, make the privacy changes just for the time you’re using it, then switch them back. It’s an extra step, but it keeps your browsing habits more secure in the long run.
