How to Organize Related Issues in Marker.io

When you try to attach a screenshot to an existing ticket in Marker.io, you might notice that you can't add any extra details like a title, description, or new comments. This can be frustrating, especially when you need to provide more context about the issue.

What's Changing?

We understand this concern and want to inform you that the "attach to existing" feature will soon be removed from Marker.io. This decision is because most users prefer managing their issues with a parent-child ticket structure, which offers more flexibility and clarity.

What You Can Do Instead

If you use an integration with platforms like Jira, you can now link related issues by following these steps:

  1. Create a Parent Ticket

    • Start by creating a main ticket in Marker.io. For example, if you encounter a problem like a broken "Contact Us" button on your homepage, you could name the ticket "Homepage Issue."

  2. Add Related Issues as Child Tickets

    • If you find another issue on the same page, like a broken link, create a new ticket for that specific problem.

    • Make sure the issue type is "Sub-Task"

    • Then, link this new ticket as a "child" of the main "Homepage Issue" Parent ticket.

Organizing your issues like this, your development team will easily see the relationship between different issues, helping them address everything in a more structured way.
