How to Organize Related Issues in Marker.io

If you've tried attaching a screenshot to an existing ticket in Marker.io, you might have noticed that you can't add extra details like a title, description, or comments. This can be frustrating when you need to provide more context.

What's Changing?

The "attach to existing" feature is being removed from Marker.io. Most users prefer using a parent-child ticket structure, which provides better organization and flexibility when managing related issues.

How to Link Related Issues Instead

If you use an integration with platforms like Jira, you can now link related issues by following these steps:

  1. Create a Parent Ticket

    • Start by creating a main ticket in Marker.io. For example, if you encounter a problem like a broken "Contact Us" button on your homepage, you could name the ticket "Homepage Issue."

  2. Add Related Issues as Child Tickets

    • If you find another issue on the same page, like a broken link, create a new ticket for that specific problem.

    • Make sure the issue type is "Sub-Task"

    • Then, link this new ticket as a "child" of the main "Homepage Issue" Parent ticket.

Organizing your issues like this, your development team will easily see the relationship between different issues, helping them address everything in a more structured way.
