When you spot a bug or have an idea for an improvement on a website, Marker.io makes it simple to report it. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to send clear, actionable feedback.

1. Go to the Website and Find the Button

Navigate to the website where you need to report feedback. Look for a feedback button, which is often on the side of the page and may say something like "Report Issue".

  • Don't see the button? The button might be hidden or only visible to certain users. You may need to ask the website owner for access or instructions.

2. Click the Button to Capture Your Screen

When you click the feedback button, Marker.io will instantly take a screenshot of the current page you are viewing. You will then see the reporting widget, which is split into two parts: the screenshot on the left and a feedback form on the right.

3. Annotate the Screenshot to Highlight the Issue

This is where you can show exactly what’s wrong. Use the annotation tools to add clarity to your screenshot:

  • Draw shapes like rectangles or circles to highlight specific areas.

  • Use arrows to point to elements.

  • Add text directly on the screenshot to provide context.

4. Fill Out the Form

Next, fill out the feedback form to describe the issue.

  • Title: Give your report a short, clear title (e.g., "Login button is not working").

  • Description: Explain the problem in more detail. Describe what you expected to happen and what actually happened.

  • Other Fields: The form may have other fields like "Priority" to help the team categorize your feedback.

5. Send Your Feedback

Once you're done, click the "Send" button to submit your report. If you are not logged in, you may be asked to enter your name and email so the team can contact you with updates.

What Happens Next?

After you submit your report, you can stay updated on its progress.

  • Email Notifications: You will receive emails when someone comments on your issue or when its status changes to "Resolved".

  • Issue Page: Every email notification contains a link to a dedicated Issue Page. On this page, you can add more comments, upload additional files, and track the status of your report.

Pro Tips for Great Reports

  • Be Specific: The clearer your title and description, the faster the team can understand and fix the problem.

  • Annotate Everything: Don't just explain it, show it! Visual feedback is powerful.
